Fang Huang, Ph.D., Principal InvestigatorDr. Huang is Reilly Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering in the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering at Purdue University. Fang Huang earned his B.S. in Physics at the University of Science and Technology of China in 2004 and his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of New Mexico in 2011 (Advisor: Keith Lidke). Before joining Purdue, Dr. Huang worked with Joerg Bewersdorf as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Cell Biology at Yale University.

Cheng Bi, Ph.D., Postdoctoral AssociateCheng Bi is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the Huang lab. He earned a B.S. in Biological Science at the Sichuan University in 2015, his M.S. in Biomedical Engineering at University of Pittsburgh in 2017 and Ph.D. in the Huang lab at Purdue University in 2025. Cheng is the inventor of SPTnet, an end-to-end transformer based single particle analysis pipeline. Cheng currently works on correlated functional and structural analysis of the brain. Cheng is co-advised by Prof. Chubykin in Biological Sciences, Prof. Rochet in MCMP and Prof. Huang in BME.

Maryam Mahmoodi, Ph.D., Postdoctoral AssociateDr. Mahmoodi is currently a Postdoctoral research associate in the Huang lab in Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering at Purdue University. Maryam earned her PhD degree in Photonics in 2019 at Laser and Plasma Research Institute, Shahid Beheshti University of Iran. She spent a one-year visiting PhD in Department of Photonics Engineering, Technical University of Denmark. Her doctoral research area was on artificial optical materials (Metamaterials) engineering and optical characterization, for the aim of fluorescence emission enhancement.

Vamara Dembele, Ph.D., Postdoctoral AssociateDr. Dembele is a currently a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Huang lab in the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering at Purdue University. Vamara earned his MSc. in Physics of Matter and Radiation and his Ph.D. in Applied Optics at Chouaib Doukkali University – El Jadida (Morocco) in 2009 and 2014, respectively. (Advisor: Abdelkarim Nassim).

Hongjia Li, Ph.D., Postdoctoral AssociateDr. Li is currently a Postdoctoral research associate in the Huang lab in Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering at Purdue University. Hongjia earned her PhD degree in Computer Science at Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Her doctoral research area was computer application technology, Cryo-EM methodology and super-resolution fluorescence microscopy methodology. Hongjia is co-advised by Lauren-Ann Metskas (Biological Sciences) and Fang Huang (Biomedical Engineering).

Siyu earned her M.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University in 2024 (Advisor: Roarke Horstmeyer) and her B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Northeastern University in China in 2022. Her research interests center on the development of super-resolution microscopy techniques. In her free time, Siyu enjoys reading and spending time with her cat.

Yile earned his B.E. and Ph.D. in Optical Engineering from Zhejiang University in 2020 and 2025, respectively (Advisor: Cuifang Kuang).
